BookMooch IRC channel
From MoochWiki
IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat, which provides a medium for real time communication between primarily humans, but also a few computers (bots).
There's an IRC channel #bookmooch on irc.freenode.net.
If you want to try this out on Windows, there's a shareware IRC client called mIRC or alternatively if you use Firefox to browse the web there is a plugin called Chatzilla that adds IRC functionality easily. Install and click on the IRC link in the paragraph above to launch the Bookmooch channel.
On the #bookmooch channel are two bots, one that is called ChanServ is provided by the freenode community, and is useful for doing operations relating to channels. Enter "/msg ChanServ help" for a list of the commands that it understands.
The other bot is called cronic, and is experimental software written and hosted by ivorw. This bot knows things about time. For instructions, please refer to the user guide.
There are plans (but no time at the moment) for an ISBN lookup bot. --ivorw
